This dish never fails to make my husband happy!

Honey garlic chicken is one of those timeless dishes that brings together the best of sweet and savory flavors, just like how this recipe has been a family favorite for generations here in the Midwest. Originally passed down from my grandmother's handwritten collection, it's the perfect comfort food that fills your home with a welcoming aroma as it slow cooks. Ideal for busy days when you need something hearty yet simple, this dish proves that love and patience truly pay off in the kitchen.
This honey garlic chicken pairs wonderfully with a side of creamy mashed potatoes to soak up all the luscious sauce. Don't forget a helping of green beans or a crisp garden salad to complete the meal. For an extra touch of nostalgia, serve it with a basket of warm dinner rolls—just like how we did on family Sundays while watching the sunset over the open fields
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup of honey
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup of ketchup
2 tablespoons of olive oil
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon of dried basil
1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Directions
1. Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil, minced garlic, dried basil, oregano, pepper, and salt.
3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
4. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
5. Once done, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and place it on a serving platter.
6. If desired, pour the remaining sauce into a small saucepan and simmer on the stove to thicken slightly. Drizzle over chicken before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a bit of a twist, you could add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the sauce for extra tanginess. If you're a fan of vegetables, toss in some baby carrots and diced potatoes to cook along with the chicken. For a spicy kick, include a tablespoon of sriracha or a pinch of red pepper flakes. To make it more wholesome, try using boneless, skinless chicken thighs which offer a richer flavor
